Docker Compose projects
Containers that were started with docker compose belong to a project. The Compose page lists the projects of the server and offers actions for a whole project. The same actions also appear in the header of each project group on the container list.

Each project shows its name, how many containers run, the path of its docker-compose.yml on the server and the names of its containers. Portway finds the compose file from the labels that Docker puts on the containers. When those labels are missing, the project is shown without a file path and the actions that need the file are unavailable.
Actions
Section titled “Actions”| Action | Command and effect |
|---|---|
| Up | docker compose up -d. Recreates containers whose configuration changed and starts the stopped ones |
| Pull + Up | Pulls the latest images for the tags in the compose file, then recreates the containers whose image changed |
| Restart | Restarts every container of the project. Services are interrupted while they restart. Finished jobs of the project run again as well, because docker compose restart includes them |
| Down | Stops and removes the containers of the project and removes its network. Volumes are kept, and images are not removed. Run Up to create the containers again |
Every action shows a confirmation with the exact command and a list of what will be affected, for example the names of the containers that are removed. The confirmation also names the project files on the server.
